About Captain Erik
Bio-
My background in the maritime industry began from childhood in the Puget Sound, living aboard and restoring classic wooden yachts that often transited all over the Puget Sound, San Juan Islands and up to the Alaskan Panhandle.
I learned to sail from the age 5, from sailing summer camps, then aboard the Sea Scouts Sparkman & Stephens 90' sailing yawl “SSS Odyssey” until the age of 11 when I then followed a longtime mentor, Darrell Willits, aboard his 42' Baltic C&C sailing sloop that we sailed back across the Atlantic from Finland. For over a decade I sailed and raced aboard the 42' Baltic, then onto other sailing vessels in international regattas such as the well known Swiftsure, Van Isle 360, Transpac and Pacific Cup as well as the Round Barbados, Antigua Sailing Week, Newport Bermuda and many more. A lot of those regattas also lead me into a vessel delivery business.
I have also crewed and captained many other sailing and motor vessels for relocations, deliveries, charters, bareboat charters and recreation in the Puget Sound, San Juan Islands, Hawaii, up and down the West and East coasts and the Caribbean Islands.
Over the last 10 years I have lived aboard a 49' wooden Grand Banks and have invested over a combined 35k hours into restoring her to higher than original standards.
I'm very familiar with gas & diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, rigging, electronics, navigation equipment as well as wooden, aluminum, steel and fiberglass hulls.
