About Captain Erik
My background in the maritime industry is rich & diverse, it began from childhood in the Puget Sound, living aboard classic wooden yachts that often transited all over the Puget Sound, San Juan Islands and up to the Alaskan Panhandle.
I learned to sail from the age 5, from sailing summer camps, then aboard the Sea Scouts Sparkman & Stephens 90' sailing yawl “SSS Odyssey” until the age of 11 when I then followed a longtime mentor, Darrell Willits, aboard his 42' Baltic C&C sailing sloop that we sailed back across the Atlantic from Finland. For many years, I sailed and raced aboard the Baltic C&C, honing my skills in both long-distance cruising and competitive racing, I later expanded my experience by participating in a wide array of international regattas, including renowned events such as the Swiftsure, Van Isle 360, Transpac, Pacific Cup, Newport Bermuda, and Antigua Sailing Week, among others.
My extensive sailing experience extends beyond racing—I've captained and crewed many vessels for relocations, deliveries, charters, and recreational cruises. I've operated yachts in the Puget Sound, San Juan Islands, Hawaii, the West Coast, East Coast, and throughout the Caribbean Islands, accumulating a diverse set of skills in various conditions and environments.
I’ve also owned and lived aboard a variety of motor and sailing vessels ranging from 36’ to 92’ vessels, which continued to extended my broad perspective on vessel management, ownership, and operations.
Beyond sailing, I’ve also worked on vessels ranging from 40' cabin cruisers to 200' super yachts. My expertise includes managing and completing a wide range of projects, from refits and custom builds to repairs, upgrades, and routine maintenance. Whether overseeing a major vessel refit or coordinating intricate repairs, I ensure that every project is completed with attention to detail and in line with the highest standards.
